# Account security

## This is a short guide of best practises to keep you Messente account safe.

### Passwords and 2FA

Messente is a vital communication channel with your customers and as such should be kept as secure as possible.  
Therefore, when you create a Messente account or are invited to an exciting account, please make sure to use a strong password and if your company is using one, store it in a password management tool. To protect yourself further we strongly recommend that each user on the account enables 2FA. This can be done [HERE](https://dashboard.messente.com/user/two-step-verification) and the 2FA messages to log into our dashboard use Verigator service and will arrive either via Viber, WhatsApp or SMS.

### SSO

**Single sign-on** (**SSO**) is an authentication scheme that allows a user to log in with a single ID to any of several related, yet independent, software systems.  
Messente supports Google SSO and if your company is using Google Workspace we can help you set it up.

**API key security**

**IP whitelist**

To add one extra layer of security to your API key, we recommend adding the IPs to the whitelist, from which the SMS message requests will be sent. Messente allows API users to define a list of IP addresses and IP address ranges using [CIDR notation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classless_Inter-Domain_Routing).
