• Branded and Verified Senders: Unlike standard SMS that can come from an unknown phone number or shortcode or lookalike brand sender names, RCS messages come from a Google verified company profile. This profile includes the brand's name, logo, banner, and contact information, which builds trust and helps users distinguish legitimate business messages from spam.
• Rich Media Capabilities: Messages can include high-quality images, videos, GIFs, and documents (like PDFs). The total combined size for media and file attachments in a single message can be up to 100 MiB globally. Unlike SMS, where you are limited to 160 characters, RCS supports text up to 3072 characters.
• Interactive UI Components: RCS supports "Rich Cards" and multi-card "Carousels" that display information visually.
• Suggested Replies and Actions: Businesses can program specific interactive buttons within the chat. Suggested replies allow users to respond with a single tap, while Suggested actions can trigger device functions like opening a web URL, dialling a phone number, viewing a location on a map, or adding an event to a calendar.
